First, the song talks about a man that has a new life and he's more responsible now. But she, probably Adele, wants him to know that she's there like a friend and she doesn't want to interfere with his new relationship.

She feels optimist because she will try to find someone else and be happy again but she's afraid of being forgotten.

Then, she remembers when they started going out together and the best moments in their relationship.

The song is a contrast between the past and the present, the sweetness and the bitterness. And it talks about overcoming. Probably, the song is based on Adele's relationship.

“Someone like you” explains the story of a couple that broke up. The girl knows that her exboyfriend has found happiness with another woman. She wants him to see her so that he doesn't forget their relationship. Adele has a lot of memories about their intimate relationship and she always remembers the definition that he gave relating to love when they were together.
In the end, she says that she wants the best for him. She believes that she will find somebody like him.

But the singer can’t forget him, and she hopes that when he sees her face, he will realise that he's still in love. Also she says that he doesn’t need to be worried, because she will find someone else, someone like him. She wishes him the best, and pleads him not to forget her. He says that time flies and he remembers the past. She comments that she doesn't like him going away, and she will wait so that when he sees her face , he will remember that for him it isn't over. They say that now all that is left are memories.

The girl in the song goes to her ex-boyfriend house, but she hasn't been invited. She explains to him that she can't live without him because she still loves him , but he has already found a new girl , a girl who he loves and has married. He is happy with her his new life but the girl remembers how they used to be and thinks that if he sees her,  he will want her back. She is pleased to see her boyfriend so happy but she hasn't forgotten him. She explains she is very sad, but she knows that in the future she will find someone who she can love as much as she loved her ex.
