The banning of burqas

In France, on 13th of July of last year, a new law came into force, called "banning of burqas". The burqa is a veil that covers the face completely, and is used by Muslim women.

This is, for Muslim ladies, a part of their culture, and in France, the people who use the burqa are very angry about the new law, because they defend the liberty of everybody to wear the clothes they want, as the human rights say.

On the one hand, it's true that everybody should wear the clothes they like, being burqas or another type of head-to-toe clothing.

On the other hand, people could use these veils to be completely face-covered and if authorities like the police, security mans, etc. can't recognise the face of all the people who are in public places, they could think these unidentified people are planning a terrorist attack or another type of crime; and these is the argument that the French politicians used to refuse and ban the burqa.

In conclusion, I think the human rights and being free are more important than the remote possibility of a terrorist disguised in a burqa or another type of veil which covers the face completely. To sum up, I disagree with the banning of burqas.

BURQAS

Burqas are full-body robes that are worn by some Muslim women. Personally, I disagree with this type of clothes. Moreover, I am not in favour of the use of veils.

First of all, burqas represent a symbol of women’s inferiority, because they are the only ones who wear this garnment. It is not fair for women to be shut away in burqas. Moreover, they have their faces covered, so they can’t have a normal everyday life. Therefore, in my view burqas should be banned.
However, I think veils are not as discriminatory as burqas, because they don’t hide your face. However, I think that if it’s correct to wear a veil in class, for instance, it would also be right to wear a cap or a hat.

To sum up, burqas should be forbidden because of their effect on women's life and veils can be as legal as a cap.

Should we outlaw the use of burkas?

The use of burkas is a controversial topic in some occidental countries. It has started to be banned in France, for example. In my view, we should outlaw it for the followig reasons.
First of all, I think that the burka is a sign of debasement for women. It degrades them. Therefore, it is a sign of the submission of the women by the men. Secondly, if a woman goes to a Muslim country, she must wear a burka. Furthermore, we can’t wear a sign of another religion. Because of this, in my opinion, Muslim women can’t wear the burka and should respect the religion of the country where they are.
To sum up, I would ban burkas because they don’t respect human-rights and we are not Muslims.

BURQAS

The wearing of burqas is a topic that causes a lot of controversy. In my opinion they should be banned outside Islam like they have done in France.

First of all, burqas may allow terrorists to evade airport security as there have been terrorist attacks in the past, and airports want to see who they're dealing with. It could also be considered rude to hide your identity. Furthermore, some people believe that wearing burqas makes it difficult to perform certain jobs, particularly those that need face-to-face contact with clients or the public, such as doctors, nurses, teachers or police officers.

Moreover, I think that if people emigrate to other countries they should adapt to the customs in that country and make an effort to integrate. Wearing a burqa means that they stand out and it looks as if they don’t want to fit in.

Finally, for these reasons, I believe burqas should be banned outside Islam.

BANNING BURQAS

The burqa is a vest worn by women which are from an Islamic religion, that vest covers all their bodies. In some countries like France and Belgium they have banned this garment, the burqa, in public spaces.

To start with, I think that they are banning the religious freedom and the freedom of expression. And if these countries are modern they shouldn’t dictate what women have to wear. They to try justify themselves saying that they can conceal a bomb, but there are a lot of ways of hiding a bomb. Although it’s true that if you travel to one of the countries which have the Islamic religion you have to put on a burqa or at least a headscarf to go to public spaces.

To sum up, I think that they don’t have to ban wearing burqas in a public place, because they should be free to choose that.
