Body Image (FINAL VERSION)

Almost every woman or man that appears in the media, either on TV or in magazines, is good-looking, especially women, with their slim and delicate bodies and their smooth face. But current people only see these women or men in the media, hardly ever on the streets. Is this just a coincidence? Of course not.

The media producers choose atractive people as their representatives because they want to pick our attention. But they don’t think about the consequences. Doing this, they create the picture of “the perfect body” and they make people believe that if they want to be good-looking, they have to look like them. Thus, many young girls stop eating or start vomiting to the point of being ill because of their worries about their self image, and these worries are because of this silly media thing about having more followers and success.

To conclude, I would say that the media shouldn’t influence our self image that way, and instead of that, it could do something to fix the madness they have created.

Media and body image (FINAL VERSION)

As time goes by, people are more and more concerned about their body. It may seem a normal worry, but if someone becomes obsessed, then it turns into a really serious problem. Nowadays, many people are affected by this, and as I see it, the media is directly linked.

Firstly, it’s obvious that television is the main responsible factor for this obsession with self-image. Many films, advertisements or reality shows are carried out by gorgeous people, not by “normal” people. Consequently, the audience wants to be like them.

Not only television influences body image, but also magazines. Some magazines advertise slimming products or recommend different diets so that people can feel better about their own body. Especially with diets (with sport too), we have to be aware of our limits, because an excess can lead to health problems.

In conclusion, I would say that the most important thing is to feel good about ourselves, because becoming obsessed with one’s physical appearance (although it’s not my case) can be quite dangerous. Finally, I think that the media should change things to avoid this increasing concern.

Body image (final version)

We are in a society based on  physical appearance. We all follow a model of beauty with the desire to have a perfect body and a pretty face.

In my opinion the biggest culprit of this is the media. The media have a great influence on people, we want to be like the big musician stars, supermodels, ... In this way we get into our head a false ideal of beauty creating complexes, loss of self-esteem and self confidence. We become machines managed by media buying everything offered to us to get that beauty that the media presents and we so desire.

In conclution, we have to learn to love who we are and how we are, prevent the media influence our lives and ultimately not allow anything or anyone to tell us how we have to be. If not, we will never be happy.

LIFE WITHOUT A PERFECT BODY. FINALVERSION.

Nowadays, a lot of slimming products, beauty treatments, surgical procedures for a better physical image are advertised.

It seems to me that this kind of advertisments should be banned at children's wathershed hours because it can affect their mind. Therefore, teenagers could fall in the mislead of their body appearance, such as a perfect one.
They might be encouraged to take slimming products, girls have a bosom plastic surgery intervention, to increase the shape of their lips could be appealing. It may be a huge problem for their health in the future.

I don't feel affected by it, because I feel very self confident and well in my body. On the other hand, the education I have received from my parents, has not let me fall in this way of life.

In conclusion, in spite of the many benefits announced by the media, I strongly believe that they go too far.

Body image

Nowadays what appears on TV has a big influence in our lives. For example, the media shows us an image of the body that makes us think we should be like what they show. In my view, we should try to overlook all this, and maybe this way we would be a bit happier with ourselves.

Firstly, in most advertisements we see gorgeous girls, who usually don’t wear many clothes, so we can see their perfect bodies that make us wish we could be like them. Secondly, in my opinion, supermodels are really skinny, and this fact is the cause of many anorexia cases in young girls. Even though we normally believe these things only affect girls, we are clearly wrong: men who spend all day at the gym and eat products to be stronger are an evidence of this.

To sum up, I believe we should start doing something about it, like teaching our children not to pay attention to what they see in magazines, newspapers, on TV, etc. because as far as this topic is concerned, they don’t show things as they actually are.
