Gadhafi's death

Muamar el Gadhafi was murdered last 20th October by a group of Libyan rebels who wanted to change the government of their country. This killing has caused a stir around the world.  Some people think he deserved to die while other people think nobody can be murdered. Now, I will explain my point of view.

First of all, I’m convinced that nobody has the right to decide about other people’s life. Consequently, no one can kill another person even though this person is a criminal, a terrorist or anything else.  As I see it, people who murder criminals are acting with the same wickedness that they disapprove, so they are becoming criminals too. Killing people is against human rights, which should be respected by everybody. What’s more, I think that people don’t respect human rights because they don’t know them as well as they should.

Secondly, I’m sure that media has given a very negative image of Gadhafi. This is because The United States has manipulated the information in order that people think Gadhafi deserved to die. So I feel that The United States is as villain as Gadhafi was, they fought against the dictator to steal from him the petrol he had, and a good way to get the petrol was to kill the dictator. With information power, U.S. has become “the good guy”. I’m not trying to defend what Gaddafi did; my intention is to show the different points of view I have considered to form my opinion. In conclusion, Gaddafi tried to defend his petrol from enemies, and, just like the U.S., he used violence, so both parts deserve the same punishment. But this punishment should never be death.
On the other hand, Gaddafi was a dictator, he had the government power by force, and this attempts to human rights too. In this case, I’m for rebels, who should end with Gaddafi’s regime, but not using violence, because I’m sure that the greatest power is the one from words.

To sum up, no one deserves to die, although he/she has caused much harm. Consequently, I think Gadhafi’s death was unfair, and he deserved a judgment.

  1. Interesting point of view, I agree with you. US has provided us most of the information and has chosed what to show us and how. Anyway, UN doesn't seem to have done much about this: I think they said they were going to investigate the death, but I haven't heard more news...
